Mediation in Domestic Relations

The process of divorce or dissolution does not have to be adversarial. Many families are unaware that there is a more effective tool in coming to a full resolution with regard to property, child custody, child support and spousal support and that is Mediation. Mediation allows for the parties to meet in a neutral, safe environment to discuss all the issues in their domestic relations case without the pressure of a court environment.

The benefits of using mediation include:

Confidentiality: there is no public disclosure of what is discussed in the course of mediation; the actual process promotes communication and cooperation between the parties in a safe environment instead of the litigious setting of a Court; it gives control to the parties in negotiating a settlement that is best suited for the needs of their family; and Mediation can be more cost-effective then on-going litigation.
